The Icelandic Textile Association’s collective exhibition, Eternal Source at Reykjavík City Hall for Design March 2025.
Trutt Trutt is a textile sculpture, that engages with the history of weaving and folk tradition, created for Design March 2025. It is an interpretation of a loom in its most basic form, dating as far back as the Stone Age. The title refers to the Icelandic folktale of Gilitrutt, that shares the same folklore motif as Rumpelstiltskin, the classic German fairy tale collected by the Brothers Grimm. The story tells of a troll woman who agrees to weave a large sack of wool into vadmal for a young farm wife. In return the young woman would have to guess the troll’s true name before the first day of summer or forfeit herself to the troll.
